How to convert HEIC to PNG
- 1To convert HEIC to PNG, drag your photos onto the HEIC photos box or click it to choose files. Several files can be added together.
- 2Check that the Output format is set to PNG. There is no quality setting because PNG is lossless; the picture is kept exactly as decoded.
- 3Each photo converts as soon as it is added. A preview card shows the new dimensions and file size, and a checkered background shows any transparent areas.
- 4Click the file name on a card to save that HEIC file as a PNG, or use Download all (ZIP) to take every image at once.
Converting HEIC photos to PNG
HEIC and HEIF are the formats iPhones use for photos, and they can also hold transparency. A PNG is the usual choice when you need a copy without any quality loss, or when the receiving app does not understand HEIC. As a HEIC PNG converter, this tool decodes the file with libheif, an open-source library compiled to WebAssembly, and writes a PNG using your browser's built-in encoder, so the result opens in practically every program.
PNG is lossless, so nothing is thrown away when your photo is saved. The trade-off is size: a PNG of a photograph is usually several times larger than the same picture as a JPG or HEIC. If you only need to share or upload the photo, switch the Output format to JPG for a much smaller file, or use the HEIC to JPG page. Transparent areas in a HEIC image are kept in the PNG, which a JPG cannot do.
Portrait photos taken on an iPhone are stored with a rotation flag. The converter applies it, so you get an upright image instead of one on its side. A file that holds several pictures can be converted into one PNG per picture, and the decoder runs in a background worker so large batches don't freeze the page.
All of this happens in your browser. Your photos are not uploaded to a server and the location and camera information in them is not copied into the PNG. There is no account, watermark or limit on the number of photos.

Frequently asked questions
How do I convert HEIC to PNG?
+
Add the photos, make sure PNG is selected as the output format, and download each result or all of them as a ZIP.
Does converting HEIC to PNG lose quality?
+
No. PNG is lossless, so the decoded picture is saved exactly. The files are larger than JPG, though.
Does the PNG keep transparency?
+
Yes. If the HEIC image has transparent areas, they are kept in the PNG.
Are my photos uploaded?
+
No. The photos are converted in your browser and never leave your device.
Can I convert HEIF files as well?

Yes. A HEIF to PNG conversion works exactly like HEIC to PNG: files ending in .heic or .heif are both read by the same converter.
Can I turn HEIC to PNG on Windows or Android?
+
Yes. It runs in any current browser, so you can turn HEIC to PNG on Windows, Mac, Linux or Android without installing anything.
