How to add a watermark to photos
- 1Drop one or more pictures onto the Images area. Click a file name in the list to preview it, or use the cross to remove it.
- 2Pick the watermark type. For a text watermark, type your text, choose a colour and font. For a logo, choose Image or logo and drop a transparent PNG or SVG; this is also how you add logo to photo files.
- 3Use the Size, Opacity and Rotation sliders, then click a square in the position grid, or drag the mark directly on the preview to place it anywhere.
- 4Turn on Tile / repeat across the image for a diagonal pattern that makes the watermark harder to crop out, and adjust the tile spacing.
- 5Choose PNG, JPEG or WebP and click Download. One image downloads directly; several are processed in turn and saved together as a ZIP, a quick way to batch watermark a whole folder.
How the watermark maker works
A watermark is text or a logo laid over a picture to show who made it or to discourage reuse. This watermark maker draws your photo on a canvas and then paints the mark on top with the opacity and rotation you chose, and exports the combined result. The original file is never changed, and the watermark is baked into the pixels of the copy you download.
Sizes are relative to each picture: the Size slider sets how wide the watermark is as a share of the image width. That means one set of settings looks the same on a small web image and a large camera original, so batch results stay consistent across mixed sizes. Position works the same way. The grid keeps a margin from the edges, and if you drag the mark it is remembered as a fraction of the picture so it lands in the same spot on every image.
A single corner watermark is easy to crop or retouch away. The tile option repeats the mark in a staggered pattern at your chosen angle, which covers the whole photo and is much harder to remove, at the cost of looking busier. A low opacity, around 30 to 50 percent, protects an image while still letting it be judged, and the optional shadow keeps white text readable on bright backgrounds.
Phone photos with an EXIF orientation tag are rotated upright before the watermark is added, so the mark is never sideways. Everything happens in your browser, so private or unreleased pictures are not sent to any server.
When people add a watermark
Photographers sharing proofs
Tile a translucent mark across client proofs so they can choose their favourites but cannot use the files as finals.
Branding social posts
Put a small logo in the corner of every image so shared pictures still point back to you.
Marketplace and listing photos
Stamp product or property photos with a shop name or website to discourage others from lifting them.
Copyright notices on a batch
Add a copyright line to a folder of pictures in one go and download them as a single ZIP.
Frequently asked questions
How to add watermark to photos?
+
Drop the photos, type your text or choose a logo, set the position, size and opacity, then click Download. The watermarked copy is saved in the format you pick.
Can I watermark several images at once?
+
Yes. Drop many files, or add more later. The same settings are applied to every image and the results download together as a ZIP.
Can I use my own logo?
+
Yes. Choose Image or logo and drop a watermark image such as a PNG, WebP or SVG. A transparent PNG or SVG gives the cleanest result because only the logo itself is drawn.
How do I make the watermark harder to remove?
+
Turn on tiling, use a rotation such as -30 degrees, and keep the opacity moderate. A mark repeated across the whole picture cannot be cropped out.
Does adding a watermark reduce image quality?
+
The photo is redrawn at its original size. PNG is lossless, while JPEG and WebP re-encode at the Quality you choose, so keep it at 90 or above for the best results.
Are my pictures uploaded?
+
No. Watermarking runs in your browser with the canvas API, and your files stay on your device.
